Family Cycle Tour Palatinate Forest
The family bike tour sends young and old on a discovery tour through Annweiler, the Trifelsland and the surrounding area.
The cycle tour starts at the Museum unterm Trifels in Annweiler, first runs through the romantic old town of Annweiler and along the small river Queich. At the Trifelsbad, the path briefly turns onto Zweibrückerstrasse, then leads alongside the road to Sarnstall and Rinnthal. In the village, you have to use the road most of the time. Behind Rinnthal, the trail crosses under the B10 and leads along the edge of the forest to Wilgartswiesen. Below the ruins of Falkenburg Castle, you reach the shoe village of Hauenstein, which invites you to make a stop at the shoe museum, the Josef Seibel adventure centre or the shoe mile. From Hauenstein you need to be in good shape, you will be cycling uphill and downhill for quite a while. Then you cycle through Schwanheim forest and meadows, past Lug to Völkersweiler. Before entering the village, the path turns left and follows the cycle path to Wernersberg. At the car showroom in the centre of the village, keep to the right and cycle through the Palatinate Forest back to Annweiler to the starting point of the tour.
UFFBASSE! - Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature
- Always behave in a forward-looking, friendly and considerate manner towards everyone you meet along the way.
- Respect nature, do not destroy plants and always stay on the paths. Try to avoid excessive noise and leave the forest before dusk.
- Remember to bring a rubbish bag for the road and take rubbish home with you.
- Please keep your dog on a lead at all times. Other visitors and animals will thank you.
- For your own safety, observe all road closures, even at weekends.
- Park only in designated parking areas. Leave space for emergency vehicles and agricultural machinery.
- Please give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic.

Safety information
Often our cycling routes run along paths that we share with others. We therefore ask for considerate and friendly cooperation at all times. Winegrowers, farmers and foresters use the farm roads through fields, forests and vineyards for their daily work (also at weekends) and therefore always have priority. Due to work and/or weather conditions, these paths may also be more heavily soiled at times. Special care should also be taken when travelling along the (mostly quiet and less frequented) roads in and around the Palatinate villages.
