Start und Ziel des Rumberg-Steigs ist der Dorfplatz von Ludwigswinkel. Die orangefarbene Markierung führt durch das ehemalige Militärgelände Area1, in einem steilen Anstieg hoch zum Gipfel des Rumbergs. Auf dem langgezogenen Rücken des Rumbergs geht es weiter, vorbei an den fünf turmartigen Rumberg-Felsen Ostfels, Lochfels, Wespenfels, Habichtsfels und Kastenfels. Nach einer Talpassage führt ein schmaler Pfad hinauf zum Guggebühl, einem Berg mit mächtigem Felsmassiv auf der Ostseite. Der Rumberg-Steig läuft ab hier parallel zur Wasgau-Seen-Tour, dem beliebten Premium-Wanderweg im Sauertal. Idyllisch verläuft das letzte Stück der Wanderung entlang mehrerer Weiher und der Rösselsquelle zurück zum Ausgangspunkt.

Despite the well-signposted trail markers along the premium hiking trails, we recommend for security reasons to always have an appropriate hiking map so that, for example when a storm occurs, you can quickly either find shelter or get out of the woods.
Especially in the autumn it is also important to remember that leaves lying on the ground can conceal irregularities, such as roots, rocks or holes in the path. Following storms, trees can have been uprooted or have branches hanging down. Such path impairments have to be expected when using such trails . Especially in adverse weather conditions, it may occur that the trails and paths turn into muddy and slippery passages. Path impairments of this kind have to be expected when you go out for a hike. Not all rocks or slopes are secured with ropes or railings and sure footedness is required. Should you be of the opinion that these are not accessible to you then you should try and get around them.

Turn-by-turn directions
Start and finish of the Rumberg-Steig is the village square in Ludwigswinkel. The orange-coloured trail marker leads through the former military area, Area1, on a steep ascent up to the summit of the Rumberg. On the elongated ridge of the Rumberg, it continues past the five tower-like Rumberg rocks of Ostfels, Lochfels, Wespenfels, Habichtsfels and Kastenfels. After going through a valley, a narrow path then leads up to the Guggebühl, with a mighty rock formation on its east side. The Rumberg-Steig runs from here parallel to the Wasgau Seen Tour, the popular premium trail in the valley of the Sauer. The last stretch of the walk leads idyllically past several ponds and the Roesselquelle before returning back to the starting point.

By train to Wissembourg or Hinterweidenthal, from there by bus via Dahn to Fischbach. From May to October with the excursion trains "Bundenthaler" Wed., Sat., Sun.
Getting there
B 10 Hinterweidenthal continue on the B427 Dahn-Reichenbach, from there towards Bruchweiler-Bärenbach L489 via Fischbach continue in the direction of Ludwigswinkel L478, turn left then right and continue to the town center.

Sturdy footwear and all-weather clothing, sun and rain protection, and a sufficient quantity of food and drink, should no refreshment facilities or shopping possibilities exist or be open. Although the path is always very well marked, you should for safety reasons always have an appropriate hiking map with you.
