We start at the Kuhberg recreational area, walk past an ice-age dune landscape into the Spreitelwald. We march to Altenbaumburg Castle, through varied forest and meadow areas. The castle and its restaurant is the perfect place for a rest. From there we walk to the Huttental valley opposite the spa gardens of Bad Münster an der Nahe, where there is an opportunity to take a break. After refreshments, we climb to the Rheingrafenstein Castle ruins, enjoy the view and from there the final stage first leads towards Rheingrafenstein Castle, then a path turns off into a rustic valley, which takes us onto a mountainous serpentine path that leads all the way to the Gans. Lime rubble heaps and distant views are reward for the efforts of the climb. We reach the Gans, follow the path along the cliff edge, and arrive at the starting point through forest and meadowland. For a snack at the end, we recommend nearby Waldheim
The hiking trail is signposted. As the tours are still under construction, there are still no information boards at the entrance portal.
Stop at Altenbaumburg Castle, take the ferry across the Nahe in the Huttental Valley and visit the café in the Kurmittelhaus.

Some sections are rocky and Alpine-like. A sure footing and concentration are required.
When you’re out and about on the Gans rock formation high above the Nahe Valley, sunscreen is a must in the heat.
The tour begins at the Kuhberg recreational area. From here we cross the road to enter the meadow beyond the bus terminal. On a dirt road we reach a sand pit, whcih is a remnant of a primeval sea. We continue straight ahead until we come to a T-junction. We keep left. From here, a path leads through the forest to the Spreitel forester’s lodge. We cross the road and choose a path that leads past the fenced grounds of Spreitel forester's lodge. Then we finally come to a T-junction. On the left is a large pine tree commemorating Hans Staab, a patron of the forest. We keep to the right, walk past the Waldheim restaurant of the Naheland Hiking Friends and cross mixed forest. The trail continues on a straight stretch to the fork, where we keep to the left in the direction of Steigerhof.
At the Steigerhof, impressive views open up to the Donnersberg. Shortly before we reach the Steigerhof, we keep to the right and follow the path to the Bismarck Hut. We now have to overcome an incline and reach the Bismarck refuge through a beech and oak forest. From here, we continue straight on towards Altenbaumburg. You continue straight ahead on a causeway. The path turns into a narrow trail and we finally reach a mountain path where you can look deep into the valley to the village of Altenbamberg, which emerged below the castle. After the rest, coming from the Altenbaumburg, we do not go back, but keep left at the fork in the path. We now walk along a serpentine path towards Bad Münster am Stein above the Alsenz. We walk past the building of the Dreiburgen Clinic and reach a road. It leads to the left over a bridge over the Alsenz. But we go straight on and keep left at a fork in the path, then immediately right (the left path leads to the camp site).
Along the camp site we now walk through meadowland and reach a wooded area, which we cross until we reach the ascent to Rheingrafenstein Castle. On the left is the ferry and the Kurmittelhaus, on the right the castle. We walk up to the castle. From the Rheingrafenstein ruins, the path leads us through oak forest. We turn left and reach a serpentine path through a rustic valley to the rock formation Gans. We walk through a forest clearing towards Rheingrafenstein Castle. Not far from the castle we reach a road, which we follow briefly to the left (towards Hofgut), then turn right into meadowland, which we cross and reach the starting point again.
