The third section of the Moselle Cycle Route is dedicated to the ancient Romans. The starting point is Trier - a treasure trove of Roman architecture, which still decisively shapes the cityscape. Once over the Kaiser Wilhelm Bridge, the cycle path leads along the left bank of the Moselle to the Pfalzel district, which once served as the long-time summer residence of Roman emperors, and finally to Schweich with its Baroque style ferry tower. At this point, the cycle path switches to the right of the Moselle and the valley landscape slowly changes from being open to more narrow in nature. Villa Rustica in Mehring, a reconstructed Roman estate with stories of luxurious Roman living waiting to be told, is the end point for this section of the tour.

On hot summer days, you can treat your feet to a little breather in the walking pool in Riol.
