The Kyrburg Castle is the widely visible landmark of the city of Kirn. The former garrison house is now home to a restaurant with a whisky museum. One of the largest whisky collections in Germany can be found in a vaulted cellar of the Kyrburg castle.

The Kyrburg, the landmark of the city of Kirn, was built around 960 by District Count Emicho. After a history marked by various occupations, the Kyrburg was destroyed by the French in 1734. In 1765 the hay magazine, which had been spared, was converted into a guard house.

Today it is a restaurant. From the terrace you can enjoy a wonderful view over Kirn and the Nahe valley. A whisky museum is located in a deep cellar under the building. The lavishly restored castle complex offers an impressive view from a high vantage point over Kirn and the Nahe Valley to the southern heights of the Hunsrück. During the summer months, a restored vault is used as a wedding room for wedding ceremonies.

Die Küche ist geöffnet 11:30 Uhr bis 13:30 Uhr und von 17:30 Uhr bis 21:30 Uhr.
