The basalt park is one of the distinctive landmarks of Bad Marienberg. The open-air museum allows you to enjoy interesting
Insights into the volcanic activity of the region about 25 million years ago.
The park represents the history of basalt mining, which has been an important economic activity for centuries.

The geological processes and earlier mining methods are vividly documented in the basalt park.
Around the recultivated quarry you can still see the different types and crystallisation forms of basalt.
Characteristic: Pentagonal or hexagonal columns in various thicknesses and heights, often visible in "milestones".
The basalt park can be reached via Bismarckstraße in the direction of Zinhain.
The southern entrance is located approx. 500 m from the corner of Bahnhofsstraße/Bismarckstraße on the right-hand side.
The circular path with information boards is open all year round and admission is free.
