Shoemaker memorial on Lorenz-Wingerter-Platz in Hauenstein, erected on the occasion of the anniversary "100 years of the shoe industry in Hauenstein" in 1986
At the end of the 19th century, the town of Hauenstein developed an important shoe production in which almost all residents of Hauenstein were active until the 1960s. Then that era slowly came to an end. The shoemaker's monument on Lorenz-Wingerter-Platz in the center of the village is a reminder of the heyday.
