Disability access

All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility tested - barrier-free for people with walking disabilities and for wheelchair users ".

- There is a marked parking space for people with disabilities (350 cm x 500 m). The distance to the entrance area is 50 m.
- The bus stop is 20 m away from the entrance. The path along the bus stop is 150 cm wide. Seating is available.
- The main entrance is accessible via 7 steps.
- The entrance door at the ground-level side entrance is 100 cm wide and is opened by service staff. Access is via a 6 m long ramp with handrails on both sides and a gradient of 6%.
- The counter with cash register is 72 cm at the lowest point and 100 cm at the highest point, and there is an equivalent communication possibility in a sitting position.
- All public doors and passageways are wider than 90 cm. There are no carousel or rotary doors.
- In public areas, the manoeuvring spaces in front of essential immobile furnishings are at least 150 cm x 150 cm.
- The exhibition area with media room and treasure chamber is steplessly accessible.
- The exhibits and the corresponding information are predominately visible and readable in a sitting position.
- Guided tours are offered for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users. Seating is available during the guided tour. The entire route is steplessly accessible for wheelchair users. Reservation is desired.
Toilet for people with disabilities
- The public toilet is accessible via a lift (platform size 70 cm x 90 cm), alternatively via a staircase with 4 steps and a handrail.
- The manoeuvring spaces in front of the toilet and washbasin are 150 cm x 160 cm.
- The toilet can be accessed from both sides (at least 90 cm x 70 cm).
- There are handles that can be folded up to the left and right of the toilet.
- The washbasin is wheelchair compatible, the mirror can be seen while standing and sitting.

- The alarm is clearly visible in the entire building.
- There is no audio induction loop.
- Information on the exhibits is provided in written form at the exhibition.

- The entrance area at ground level is visually contrasted with the surrounding area, but cannot be recognized by a tactile change of floor covering.

- In the exhibition, the well-lit exhibits contrast visually with their surroundings and information is provided in written form.
- There is an audio guide.
- Essential paths in the exhibition rooms are partly visually rich in contrast, but cannot be detected tactilely.
- There are no obstacles, e.g. objects protruding into the path/room.
- There is no guidance system with floor indicators.
- There is no acoustic information at the bus stop.
- Aids offered: reading aids (reading glasses, magnifying glass, etc.)
