This short bike trail (just under 20 kilometers) is suitable for almost everyone. It leads through the pond landscape near Dreifelden and can also be cycled well with children.

The center of the lake district is the Dreifelder Weiher, because it is the largest of the lakes, two kilometers long and up to 800 meters wide. Here I can swim and row, and I can also rent a pedal boat. With a little time, I go on the hiking trail with 16 display boards, on which a lot can be read about the nature and the people here. Afterwards I look for a nice place to rest and eat, for example the cozy café-restaurant "Haus am See".
Another highlight of the region is the large adventure playground near Steinen-Dreifelden. This forest playground entices the offspring to play for hours: a nice reward after a third of the tour. There are numerous benches and a shelter, as well as a fireplace for barbecue lovers and, of course, playground equipment such as large slides, swings and more.
The Freilingen miniature golf course is suitable for the whole family. It is located at the Postweiher and offers drinks and snacks in addition to twelve lanes. The village of Freilingen also has a lido at the Postweiher.

In Dreifelden it is worth the short detour to the bridge at the lake, which offers me a wonderful view over the Dreifelder Weiher.

Turn-by-turn directions
I start the tour at the "Haus am See" on the west side of the Dreifelder pond. The trail then leads me to the Haiden pond, which is passed on the east side. It continues towards Steinen and then with a sharp bend to the northeast over a narrow crossing that separates the Brinkenweiher and the Postweiher.
A little north of this, the adventure playground awaits the children, adults can rest here briefly. For the break I have packed a snack and especially drinks. Afterwards my way leads upwards and in an east-north movement through the forest to Dreifelden. A bit behind the village is the Dining Range Golf Club with restaurant, which is explicitly open for bikers and non-golfers. After this refreshment, I continue on to the village of Steinebach an der Wied, going briskly downhill.
From Steinebach, I head straight south along the street Am Acker. The next destination is the Hoffmannsweiher and from there it is not far to my starting point, the "Haus am See".

Equipment
For bags and backpacks not only the back offers space on a bike tour - the weight of the equipment should be best distributed over several parts of the body and wheel. Driving wind, rain or sun can lead to very different temperature sensations on the bike - a cold can best be avoided with a professional bike clothing. You should always have a suitable change of clothes on hand on a multi-day tour to be prepared for any eventuality. Among other important equipment, the necessary tools and repair utensils should not be forgotten. At high speed, it is easy to take a wrong turn on a bicycle tour: For orientation, traditional and modern aids such as a bike map or a GPS device. You should always have a small emergency kit with you.
