The Peace Tour is a 48 km long challenging circuit that is marked with the symbol of the dove of peace throughout. It requires, due to the many climbs, already a certain degree of condition. This varied tour offers the cyclist a high level of sport and fun. Cultural demands are also served here – "Black Board" with information boards on the german French history, Area 1" with information about the former special weapons depot of the Cold War, the Biosphere House with the treetop path, to name just a few. The stylish half-timbered villages on the German and French sides invite you to linger and take a break.

UFFBASSE! - Campaign for a considerate coexistence in nature

Always be forward-looking, friendly and considerate of everyone you meet along the way.

Pay attention to nature, do not destroy plants and always stay on the trails.

Think of a garbage bag on the go and take waste back home.

Please always keep your dog on a leash. Other visitors and animals thank you.

For your own safety, keep in mind any roadblocks. Also on weekends.

Park only in designated parking spaces. Leave room for escape routes and agricultural machinery.

Please give priority to agricultural and forestry transport.

Author’s recommendation

"Schwarze Tafel" - historical border crossing between Ludwigswinkel and Obersteinbach with information boards on the history of the two villages and nations.

"Modern Castle" - Area 1 - former special weapons depot from the Cold War with a circular route of 12 stations on this topic.

Safety information

Often our cycling routes run along paths on which we are guests by bike and which we share with others. We therefore ask for a considerate and friendly cooperation at all times. Farmers and foresters use the farm roads through fields and forests for their everyday work (even on weekends) and therefore always have priority.

Due to work assignments and/or weather conditions, these paths can also be more polluted at times. Special care should also be taken when guided along the (mostly quiet and little-used) roads in and around the Alsatian and Palatinate villages.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the train station in Bundenthal, the bike tour leads over an asphalted cycle path past the Falkenmühle to the exit of the village. Here turn right onto the cycle path, up the mountain to the junction K46, then down into the picturesque village of Nothweiler. Over the Lembacher Straße and then on the bike path it goes first slightly uphill and then downhill to Petit Wingen and then to the pretty Alsatian Wingen. The route continues past colourful meadows and fields to the town of Lembach /F. From here we continue towards the campsite with the Fleckensteiner pond, which invites you to swim. The tour runs a little bit along the D925 until it turns left onto the newly created route, which leads along an idyllic grove in the direction of Niedersteinbach/F, with its numerous half-timbered houses. Via the road D3 we reach Obersteinbach/F.

At the end of the village we turn right onto the cycle path to Maison Forestiére de Lutzelhardt. The fortified path continues across the german-French border to the "Black Table" with explanations of this and the eventful history of the two nations. On a paved bike path, the tour now runs through the former US depot past "Area 1", a historical relic from the Cold War.

An informative circular route provides a lot of information, then continue until you reach Fischbach-Petersbächel.

Over the Vosges Road and past the Unterpetersbächlerhof, the tour leads to the largest village in the Sauertal "Fischbach". The peace tour now continues over the striking wooden bridge in the nature reserve "Königsbruch" until you cross the Rumbacher-Höhe slightly uphill on a water-bound cycle path. From here you roll comfortably in the direction of Rumbach. Arriving in the idyllic half-timbered village of Rumbach, it goes through the senior citizens' park over the cycle path to Bundenthal back to the starting point.
