The route from Speyer initially takes you into the cycling community of Dudenhofen. German cyclist Rudi Altig used to train on the local cycle track on Iggelheimer Straße. You continue via Harthausen to Gommersheim, passing Böbingen and Freimersheim. You then reach Hainfeld via Großfischlingen and Edesheim. The castle and the catholic church of St. Peter and Paul in Edesheim are both well worth a visit.

Turn-by-turn directions

Our tour starts with the imposing cathedral behind us, and the cobbles of Maximilianstraße ahead. We cycle along the traffic-calmed Maximilianstraße to the Altpörtel, one of the city gates, and pass underneath it. Immediately afterwards, we turn right into Mühlturmstraße at Postplatz. After the railway crossing, we turn right again into Holzstraße and follow the Speyerbach tributary out of the city. The route initially takes you past Dudenhofen cycling club. The German cyclist Rudi Altig used to train on the cycle track on Iggelheimer Straße. The route continues through the Gäu, a flat landscape criss-crossed by streams, and passes Harthausen en route to Freisbach. Here we cycle along Hauptstraße, turn right into Waldstraße and head north out of the town. We leave the Rhine Plain and enter the Wine Route region. The route bypasses Gommersheim and enters the little municipality of Böbingen. We remain on Hauptstraße. Approximately 400 metres after leaving the village, the cycle route turns left and we reach Freimersheim. Here, we follow Rathausstraße and then turn right into Hauptstraße. We pass vines and fields as we head towards Großfischlingen and then on to Edesheim. Here, we first follow Jahnstraße before turning right into Speyerer Straße, at the end of which we cross the state road (L516). We continue onto Luitpoldstraße which becomes Ludwigstraße and takes us into Edesheim. We reach our destination of Hainfeld along the Modenbach river.

Ist eine Rückfahrt mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln und 2 Fahrrädern mäglich?

Answered by Julian Völk  · May 03, 2022 · Zum Wohl.
Touristik
