The River Lahn is one of the most beautiful canoe rivers in Germany. Far away from any hustle and bustle and past untouched river meadows or steep rock faces, there is something new to discover around every bend of the river, and there are plenty of it in the lower part of the River Lahn between Limburg and the mouth of the Rhine in Lahnstein.

On this tour, in addition to nature experiences, cultural highlights are also on the daily program. We start in Nassau below Nassau Castle, which towers over the river and is the ancestral seat of numerous European monarchies. Further on, you will pass the medieval town wall of Dausenau, which nestles against the River Lahn as a film-like backdrop, before reaching the imperial spa of Bad Ems. Here you paddle up close to architectural gems from the baroque and spa era.

Author’s recommendation

In Bad Ems there is a resting place directly in the spa gardens on the right side of the river at the level of the St. Martin's Church. Just land here and explore the historic spa district of Bad Ems a bit. More info at https://www.badems-nassau.info/poi/kanurastplatz-bad-ems
