The Geierlay circular cycle route links the fortress town of Kastellaun in the Hunsrück region with the Geierlay, Germany’s most beautiful rope suspension bridge.
The 35 km long circular route starts in Kastellaun and leads through the municipalities of Völkenroth, Leideneck, Mastershausen, Sosberg, Mörsdorf, Mörz, Buch and Bell, finishing back in Kastellaun. As a number of metres of elevation gain uphill and downhill have to be overcome along the route, as well as varying ground types (dirt tracks and forest paths, tarmacked and gravelled sections of the route), the trail is predominantly suitable for those with e-bikes or proficient cyclists.
The Geierlay rope suspension bridge: at 360 metres long and 100 metres high, it is Germany’s most beautiful rope suspension bridge.
If you have time, you could also check out the famous Beller Kuhscheune (cow barn) in Bell and take a trip to the Bell observation tower to enjoy the views over the Hunsrück mountains.
Also located in Bell is the Tier-Erlebnispark (animal adventure park), where tigers, pumas and native wild animals roam.
