Burg Lichtenberg (Hostel, Musikantenland Museum, Urweltmuseum) is one of the largest castle ruins in Germany, with a length of 425 metres.
The region around Kusel is also known as Musikantenland, named after the wandering musicians of the West Palatinate who earned a living like this from around 1850 until the First World War. Already in the early 19th century crop failures and the resulting lack of food forced the inhabitants of the West Palatinate to emigrate.
