The circular trail will take you through the Saline Valley. You’ll pass by the therapeutic spa resorts of both Bad Kreuznach and Bad Münster am Stein-Ebenburg, as well as take in the breathtaking ragged cliffs towering over you as you walk along the Nahe River.
“The entire trail leads you through diverse natural conservation areas: the banks of the Nahe, a natural habitat for the dice water snake, glacial scree slopes, rhyolite massifs, the Rotenfels (Red Cliffs) massif and sessile oak forests. In this unique dry, warm microclimate you’ll discover thriving plant communities that otherwise only exist in the Mediterranean region. This trail showcases natural beauty, geological features and the graceful park landscape of both spa resorts in unusual clarity.”
The hiking trail also offers you many a side trip. On the way to red cliffs of the Rotenfels, it’s well worth a stop at Ebenburg’s internationally unique sculpture park from the Kubach-Wilmsen family of sculptors. It’s a short 100 meters off the trail. Together the red cliffs of the Rotenfels in the background, the local countryside, the architecture and the stone sculptures of the Kubach family (“Library of Stones of the World”) form a harmonious complete work of art. When you arrive in Bad Kreuznach, take a stroll through the Kurpark (Spa Gardens), walk along the riverside promenade and take in the Nahe River as it romantically rushes by. Or discover the Altstadt (Old Town) with its famous bridge houses.
