The picturesque, inviting old district of Großwinternheim is the starting point for this promising tour - there is already the opportunity to visit one of the award-winning winemakers or an equally award-winning sparkling wine. But the panorama from the Mainzer Berg is worth the sometimes steep ascent. From the vineyards on the plateau you have a fantastic view over the Rheingau and the Selztal. The view can be particularly enjoyed with a glass of wine on the terrace of the Breidscheid winery. The way back is atmospheric through the romantic Selztal.

Turn-by-turn directions
The starting point is the parking lot at the sports field in Großwinternheim. The path leads through the pretty district, the Selztaldom in sight and past several wineries. Then the steep climb up to the Mainzer Berg, from where you can see far into the Rheingau. At the top, you continue to hike relaxed without incline through the vineyards with a fantastic view. Ingenious: a detour to the tavern of the Breidscheid winery. Here you can enjoy a nice glass of wine on the terrace - if you have children, you will be happy about the playground. Then the path leads down to the idyllic Selztal. It goes through the valley back to Großwinternheim.
