This varied circular hike has it all: you hike through tranquil villages, explore the Marienberger Höhe with its juniper heath and hike to the Hölzerstein hill. You will return through the former quarry and today's Bacher Lay nature reserve with a basalt wall worth seeing and flora and fauna rich in species.

Author’s recommendation

Picnic at the juniper heath, a heath-like biotope with insect diversity.

Turn-by-turn directions

First through the spa park and further past the roundabout before leaving the built-up area and reaching the forest. Then the trail climbs up to the juniper heath and continues towards the television tower. Two road crossings follow, once the L294 and later, shortly before the district of Pfuhl, the K60. Through the village of Nisterau you reach the Hölzerstein hill. The path then leads back to the village and then through the Bacher Lay nature reserve.
