Very flat route for the first two kilometres through the vines, then pleasant but steady uphill on well-maintained forest paths in the forest until shortly after the Ungeheuersee lake. The route is not uniformly signposted, please follow the directions.

Safety information

In the vineyards, the route runs mainly on unpaved farm tracks. Please give priority to agricultural traffic. Due to agricultural use, the paths may be dirty. In the forest, the trail runs for the most part on unpaved forest soil. Watch out for roots, rocks and stones so that you do not lose your footing. After rainy days and especially in spring, autumn and winter, the paths can be wet and therefore slippery.

Turn-by-turn directions

The starting point of our hike is the village square on the main road in Weisenheim am Berg. You pass the Catholic church and then turn right into Bobenheimer Straße. You go left out of the village and turn left after the last house and take the next path on the right to Bobenheim am Berg. You will reach Leininger Straße in Bobenheim via Diebspfad. Here you turn right and then turn left into Friedhofstraße (a few steps further down Leininger Straße you can make a detour to the winegrower's well and the bakehouse beforehand). Walk across Friedhofstraße and straight on along the mountain path through Bobenheim and turn left after the playground and then immediately right again along the path "Am Krummbach" to leave the town to the north and arrive at the Krummbach car park. From here, follow the hiking trail signposted with a white and red bar on a well-surfaced forest path and finally arrive at the Ungeheuersee natural monument with refreshment facilities in the PWV hut (opening times: see tip). Walk around the lake and then follow the signs to the "Grünes Kreuz" (Green Cross) until you reach the entrance to Weisenheim am Berg. Walk along Sommerbachweg through the green area to Plauser Straße, turn left there and then right into Karl-Gayer-Straße. You will reach Leistadter Straße with many places to stop for refreshments. Turn left to reach the starting point at the village square.

Ggf. Falschbeschreibung auf der Karte?
