Slightly hilly circular trail through the local recreation area Ludwigshain, through orchards, vineyards and asparagus fields. The tour takes you past the historic Eyersheimer Mühle mill to the highest point in the municipality (130m). From here you have a great view of the Haardt, which is within reach with its offshore villages.

Author’s recommendation

After the hike, the Weisenheim gastronomy is open to you for refreshments.

Safety information

The route often runs along so-called farm tracks. These are used for agricultural purposes and are used by tractors and harvesters all year round. We would like to point out that the use of the paths is at your own risk and ask for mutual consideration in the interest of all. The farm tracks may be soiled by agricultural traffic. After rainy days and especially in winter, the paths can be wet and slippery.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the starting point in the car park, walk along the path in the direction of the Music and Culture Association (MUK). Now here in front of the sign of the "MUK", left up the steps, before the last staircase, continue left along Sandhasenweg 3. At the end of the path, keep left briefly, then turn right opposite into the hairpin bend ("Ludwigshain"). Keep straight on along Sandhasenweg 3 until you reach the houses of the Eyersheimer Mühle. At the sign Kraut- und Rübenradweg (symbol of a carrot), keep right in the direction of Erpolzheim. Tip: If you want, you can also take a short detour into the Erpolzheimer Bruch nature reserve. This can be done before turning onto the Kraut- und Rübenradweg by walking straight ahead, on the unpaved path, past the houses. Back again, on the Kraut u. Rüben cycle path in the direction of Erpolzheim. Take the next possible paved farm track on the right towards Weisenheim am Sand. Follow the paved path through the vineyards to the crossroads on the hill. Keep left to reach the Heimat- und Museumsverein's information board "From Hambach Castle to Grünstadter Berg". Go down the small hill and keep left. After about 200 m turn right, after another 200 m turn right again. Follow the signs to the Freinsheim Blütenwanderweg (Coreten stele with flower motif) along the railway line. You will come to the Ludwigshain recreation area. Walk straight ahead. You will come to a pond (rest area). From the pond, follow the path eastwards to the riding arena/path and turn right again to the starting point at the car park.

schöne Landschaft in der Vorderpfalz mit Ausblicken auf die Haardt. Anteil der asphaltierten Radwege etwas hoch.
