Turn-by-turn directions

The hike starts at the Tourist Information i-Punkt Freinsheim at the hist. Town Hall in Freinsheim. You walk along the main road via Bahnhofstraße and Herxheimer Straße straight ahead into Holzweg. Cross the railway embankment and turn right after approx. 300m at the large meadow. You pass the Oschelskopf sculpture and follow the asphalt path down the hill. Keep to the right at the group of benches by the meadow. After approx. 400m, go right over the small bridge and then to the Weinstraße, which you cross (note: no crossing aid). From here, continue left and then on the unpaved path to the right, always straight ahead through the Berntal nature reserve to the Weidenhof car park at the northern end of Leistadt. Cross the road and follow the signs for the "Sieben Waldwunder" hiking trail. Steadily climbing slightly, you pass the Laura hut. A few 100 metres after the Laura hut, turn left into the hollow path, then left again after the steps, to the Krummholzer Stuhl and the soup bowl. You are now on the Ganerbenweg (marking: black axe on yellow ground). After about 200 m, the path branches off sharply to the left. You will come to the Leininger border stone and the Teufelsmauer (Devil's Wall). On this section you can also make a detour to the canapé and the devil's bench. Continue on the Ganerbenweg to the Lindemannsruhe forester's lodge with refreshments and to the Bismarck Tower.100 metres after the Bismarck Tower, leave the Ganerbenweg to the left and follow the signs to "Pfalz Pfade Weilach". (Marking: Bismarck Tower) to the PWV hut "In der Weilach" and to the car park at the forester's lodge. At the Weilach forester's lodge, cross the K3 heading east. After a few metres, turn left into the forest path. Follow the marking 1 on the trees, then continue to follow the white arrow markings on the trees. At the grounds of the dog sports club, turn right along the unpaved path to the Dt. Weinstraße hiking trail. Follow this to the right in a southerly direction until you reach the Annaberg hotel/restaurant. Turn left here, cross the road and take the first unpaved path on the right and the second on the left. Pass the Römerkelter and after 100 metres turn left uphill to the Roman Weilberg vineyard. At the junction in front of the winery, turn right towards Kallstadt, following the almond path markings. The Riesling path (blue post with yellow wine glass) takes you past the Kallstadter See lake, along Backhausgasse to Leistadter Straße. At the Heinz winery, turn right. You cross the Platz der 100 Weine and come to the tourist information i-Punkt Kallstadt. Here you cross Weinstraße and turn left into Neugasse, and after 30 metres immediately turn left again into Schlittweg (no street sign). At the end of this road, turn left and immediately right again into the unpaved path. After about 700 metres, turn left and then right again in quick succession. You are now walking directly towards the Hahnenplatz (natural monument with old chestnut trees) and towards Freinsheim. Via the railway station, Bahnhofstraße, Denkmalstraße and Haintorstraße, you come to the old town of Freinsheim and reach the starting point via Breite Straße.
