Circular trail through wine and forest: Kallstadt - Weilach - Bismarck Tower - Lindemannsruhe - Berntal
Short description:
Hike from Kallstadt past the Roman Weilberg vineyard through the vineyards into the Palatinate Forest to the PWV hut "In der Weilach", the Bismarck tower and the Lindemannsruhe forester's lodge. Passing various natural monuments via the hiking trail "Sieben Waldwunder" (Seven Wonders of the Forest), the trail then leads out of the forest to Leistadt and through the Felsenberg/Berntal nature reserve back to Kallstadt.
Varied hike with climbs along the way. The trail first runs on a flat stretch through the vineyards, then steadily uphill into the forest to the Bismarck Tower. From there it continues on level ground. The descent via the Sieben Waldwunder trail to Leistadt is steady but moderate. The rest of the way is level again. There are various places to stop for refreshments in the forest.
The route is not separately signposted.

Turn-by-turn directions
From the Platz der 100 Weine, opposite St. Salvator Church, walk along Leistadter Straße to the end of the village, where you turn left into Backhausgasse. You are now on the Riesling hiking trail (blue stele with yellow wine glass). Follow this path around the small lake and up the hill. Here you can already see the excavation site "Villa am Weilberg". Keep to the left and go straight there. Below the excavation site, turn right, pass the Roman wine press and head west with a view of the Palatinate Forest. Before the road, turn right briefly and cross the road (attention: no crossing aid) and continue straight on past the Annaberg hotel/restaurant (refreshment stop). After approx. 200 m, turn left onto the paved path. You are now on the Bad Dürkheim circular trail "Pfalz Wein Pfade Pfälzerwald - Spielbergblick" (marking: trail logo with amphora) and follow the marking southwards.
Shortly before the edge of the village at the Gölzmauer hut with a rest area, leave the Spielbergblick hiking trail and turn right, after 200 metres turn right again. Now follow the signs for the Dürkheimer Rundweg "Teufelsstein-Kriemhildenstuhl" (marking: man with hammer) and enter the forest. You pass the Schützenhaus and reach the Weilach hikers' car park and the Weilach forester's lodge. Pass the Weilach forester's lodge on the left, via the "Bismarck Tower-Heidenfels" hiking trail (marking: picture with tower), and you will reach the Bismarck Tower. From here, follow the Ganerbenweg (marking: black axe on yellow ground) to the Lindemannsruhe forester's lodge. You cross the hikers' car park, at the end of which the plaque with the "Pälzer Gebet" (Palatinate Prayer) by Otto Wilms is worth a short stop at a seating area.
Follow the Ganerbenweg for about 1 km and then the hiking trail "Sieben Waldwunder" (marking: picture of a rock with stone filling) diagonally downhill to the right. Cross the Rotsteige weekend house and reach Leistadt. Cross the main road and continue into Freinsheimer Straße. After about 100 metres, keep to the left and walk along what is then an unpaved path through the Berntal valley. At its end, cross the small bridge and walk up the hill. At the top, turn left and follow the markings of the Riesling hiking trail (blue stele with yellow wine glass) and return to Kallstadt.
