Short description:

Beautiful forest walk with slight inclines. The trail can also be connected with the circular hiking trails of Weisenheim am Berg or used as a feeder trail to the Ganerbenweg and on to the Pfälzer Weinsteig.

Right at the beginning, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view as you walk along the edge of the Haard. The first kilometre is steadily uphill, then it continues quite level before the last kilometre is a steady but pleasant walk downhill back to Bobenheim am Berg. The trail leads past the Triforstbrunnen fountain and the rest area at the little house with table and benches.  Shortly before the Triforst fountain, you have the option of turning left in a southerly direction and walking across the Plauser rest area towards the Ungeheuersee lake with the PWV hut.

Author’s recommendation

North of Bobenheim there is the Krummbachtal hikers' car park, from where other hiking trails are signposted, e.g. also leading up to Battenberg.

Safety information

The trail leads for the most part on unpaved forest ground. Watch out for roots, rocks and stones so that you don't lose your footing. After rainy days and especially in spring, autumn and winter, the paths can be wet and therefore slippery.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the car park, walk approx. 200 m straight ahead towards the west (forest). On the left side, at the "Bettelbrunnen" with signs, turn into Haardtweg and walk up the slope towards the Waldfestplatz. At the Waldfestplatz, head south past the houses, following the sign with the black frog. Go straight on until you reach the next sign (black frog on a white background). After approx. 50 m, turn right up the small hill (next sign on the left by the tree). Do not take the 1-way path straight ahead. After approx. 200 m you will see the 1st boundary stone on the left. The path goes steadily slightly uphill. At the crossroads continue straight ahead on the narrow path. On the left is the next marker, 1-way and Waldfroschweg. This section is very uneven. Partly riddled with roots and washed out. You come to the 2nd boundary stone on the left and keep walking along this path until you reach the Triforstbrunnen. Between the sign "schwarzer Frosch" (black frog) and the tree divided in two, walk down the narrow path. You will come directly to the Triforstbrunnen. Go back up the slope, turn left and then via the rest area at the little house back to Bobenheim am Berg into the street "In den Hahndornen", which turns into "Am Woogtal" and leads back to the car park at the starting point. Alternatively, you can turn right from Triforstbrunnen to get to the Ungeheuersee lake. You reach the lake via the Plauser rest area and then continue south along hiking trail 3.

Schöner Waldspaziergang mit Picknick-Platz, allerdings stimmt die Markierung (schwarzer Frosch) nicht mit dem Weg in der App überein. Man kann den Weg mit der Karte der App aber gut finden.
