Watch out for roots, rocks and stones so that you don't lose your footing. After rainy days and especially in spring, autumn and winter, the paths can be wet and therefore slippery.Tips and hints
After completing the walk, you can of course visit the Lindemannsruhe forester's lodge and enjoy the wide range of gastronomic delights on offer in the wine villages of the Freinsheim holiday region.

Turn-by-turn directions
The hiking trail is marked by the Freinsheim chapter of the Palatinate Forest Association with signs (black "1" on a white background) on trees along the way.
At the far end of the hikers' car park, turn left and follow the markings (the trail runs the same distance as the premium hiking trail "Ganerbenweg" up to Heidenfels). After approx. 800 metres, cross the Leistadt/Höningen road and turn left again after 50 metres on the other side of the road into the forest. After another 700 metres you reach the Heidenfels with a beautiful view of the green heights of the Pfälzerwald.
Here it is worth taking a detour down into the rock formations below the Heidenfels. You can use the natural steps directly at the Heidenfels or continue along the path for 50 metres and then take a hairpin bend along a somewhat more comfortable path to the rocks. In both cases, we ask you to pay close attention to your footing. The detour is not recommended for hikers with limited mobility.
After the Heidenfels, the path continues for another 150 metres. The Ganerbenweg now turns downwards, but you hike back the short distance to the left and reach the Lindemannsruhe forest house, which you can already see after a few steps.
