The plain between Bad Breisig and Remagen is known as the "Goldene Meile". Due to numerous floods, a particularly fertile soil has developed, which is responsible for the naming. Hiking trail 4 leads slowly uphill along this plain, but then turns left and leads the hiker through dense forests back to the Römer-Thermen.
The area of the Goldene Meile also contains the Black Madonna, a memorial to the many German soldiers who were held prisoner in the open air in 1945 and died in the cold of winter.
Author’s recommendation
At the end you can stop for a bite to eat on the Rhine promenade in Bad Breisig. At the weekend, you can also visit the Schäferhütte (shepherd's hut) near Mönchsheide.

Turn-by-turn directions
We start at the Römer-Thermen, walk across the parking lot and then turn left towards the traffic circle, where we now follow Backesgasse on the right to its end. Then we go straight on Vogelsangstraße for about 200 meters until we see a bridge over the railroad tracks on the right, which we then use. After crossing it, we orient ourselves on Gartenstraße, which turns left. At the end of the street we follow the street 'Am Kesselberg' in left direction and go under the railroad underpass. From here we go straight for almost 2 kilometers until we turn left into the 'Rabenkopf' slightly uphill. In the bend we follow straight ahead the narrower path into the forest, which from now on winds its way up to the height level of the Mönchsheide with a constant moderate gradient. Once this is done, the trail continues almost at ground level through various types of forest to the viewing platform 'Auf dem Hahn' with a hiking swing and fantastic views of the Middle Rhine Valley and Arenfels Castle. At the end, the path meanders downhill until we reach the road from the beginning again at a shooting lodge, from where we walk back the same way to the Römer-Thermen.

By train you can reach the Bad Breisig station every half hour from Cologne or Koblenz.In addition, the bus line 800 runs in town and in the surrounding area.

Along the Rhine you can reach Bad Breisig on the B9.From Bad Hönningen there is a car ferry to Bad Breisig.
