Anyone who would like to know what the natural and cultural landscape of Ingelheim is all about will find an answer on the “Ingelheimer Auslese” circular tour. Historic buildings such as the castle church in Ober-Ingelheim or the imposing Westerhaus Castle, the picturesque district of Großwinternheim with its stately courtyards from the 12th century, vineyards and fruit trees, wide panoramic views of the Rheingau and the romantic Selztal hike many facets of the Rheinhessen region. The steep climbs on the Mainzer Berg and the Westerberg require a bit of stamina, but reward with a fantastic view. For enjoyable breaks, several wineries along the way, where you can taste the local wine, and restaurants, some with regional cuisine, invite you to stop in. An insider tip for little hikers is the beautiful playground at the Ohrbrücker Tor in Ober-Ingelheim, which is next to climbing equipment and a cable car also offers a water feature.

In Großwinternheim you should treat yourself to a champagne or wine tasting in one of the wineries. Some award-winning wine and sparkling wine products are waiting here.

Turn-by-turn directions
The starting point is the castle church in Ober-Ingelheim. From there the path leads over partly unpaved, moderate and steep climbs through the vineyards to the plateau of the Mainzer Berg. We continue in the direction of Großwinternheim with a fantastic view all the way to the Rheingau. Strolling through the beautiful old district is worth it - just like a wine tasting at one of the local winemakers. Then it goes comfortably down into the Selztal, before the path then leads in a steep ascent over to the Westerberg and high over 111 steps under the roof of the Bismarck tower. But the grandiose panoramic view makes up for the tired hiker before it goes back down to the Ober-IngelheimerBurgkirche.

Ingelheim am Rhein is directly connected to the A 60 motorway and has two exits. In town, follow the signs for "Burgkirche", then you will come directly to the hikers' car park. Please enter the following address as the address for the navigation system: Bürgermeister-Bauer-Straße 1.Parking
You can park your car for free on the castle church grounds. The parking lot is not available for various events around the castle church (folk festival, red wine festival and Christmas market). Then use the parking facilities in the adjacent streets.Coordinates
