Distance 2.4 km
The walk through the "Wintrich chestnut grove" leads through more than 130-year-old sweet or sweet chestnut stands, which are among the largest continuous chestnut forests in Rhineland-Palatinate. Chestnuts have a delicate sweet, nutty and somewhat mealy taste. Nowadays, you rarely see chestnut sellers who offer roasted chestnuts in the city centres in winter.Insights into the hiking tour:Starting from the hiking car park, the route follows shady forest paths through the forest. At a clearing, a view of the distant Moselle mountains opens up. The highlight of the hike are the many sweet chestnuts along the way. There are no rest stops along the way, so it is recommended to pack rucksack food.

Many chestnut trees are old. They were planted around 1865.
