Maikammer - summit tour on the Kalmit
We start at the Hüttenhohl parking lot and take an uphill path marked with a white-green bar near the road. The idyllic forest path is littered with roots and stones and lined with blueberry bushes. Soon we reach a refuge 1, where we can rest and enjoy the view of the Rhine plain. Continuing to follow the well-known marking, it now goes through the stony landscape of the Felsenmeer 2 and behind it on a wide forest path to the turning point on the Kalmit. After a few steps we reach the summit via sandstone steps, on which, among other things, the Kalmit House 3, also known as the Ludwigshafener Hütte, is located. The view from the terrace of the hut is great and extends to the Odenwald. We descend over stone steps and continue downhill along the green and white bar past a war memorial. After we have crossed Kalmithöhenstraße for the second time, we say goodbye to the previous marking. In front of us we can already see the summit of pigeon head 4 and climb up to it. After a rest, it goes down the same path again. Shortly before the road, however, we turn to the right and now follow a hiking trail that runs parallel to the road to the Hahnenschritt 5 car park steers stony, uphill path in the direction of Hohe-Loog-Haus. We follow it until we come to a large star road, the picture tree 6, where there is also a rest area. Always following the red point, it goes from here to Hohe-Loog-Haus 7 (or Hambacher Hütte), from where we can look back at the two mountains that have already been climbed. Then we circle the summit on a wider gravel path and reach the picture tree again. Always following the black dot on a white background, we first hike again to the Hahnenschritt car park and from there parallel to Kalmithöhenstrasse back to the Hüttenhohl hikers car park.
