Circular route 8 leads up to Reutersley. The term ley means rock/slate. The Reutersley is such a rock with a breathtaking viewpoint. The sparse vegetation of bizarre-looking oaks makes the landscape appear "alpine". The rocks were the seabed of an ancient sea in the Devonian about 400 million years ago.

The ascent is worth it!

Turn-by-turn directions

Before the tennis courts, turn right into the forest, past the Mariensäule column towards Rheineck. Shortly before Rheineck, turn right downhill. At the village square, cross the Vinxtbach and Rheineckerstraße. Follow Mühlenstraße to the campsite. Go through to the garages and then follow a forest path uphill to the left. After reaching the Burgweg, keep right until you reach the obelisk. Now turn right into the forest.

After a short time, path 8 turns right again and separates from RheinBurgenWeg . The ground becomes rocky and can be slippery in bad weather conditions. After reaching the plateau, the trail continues through the woods to the Rhine side of the mountain. There is a Celtic hilltop settlement in the hiking area, but only the ditches are still preserved. Then follows a fantastic view of Rheineck Castle and Arenfels Castle. After 100 metres you are on the Reutersley, a beautiful vantage point overlooking the romantic Rhine Valley. The term ley has the meaning rock/slate. On a rocky path, path 8 now leads back to the castle path. Follow the castle path into the valley. At the Wagram Bridge, go down to the Rhine and past the ferry to the spa gardens. Then turn left through the spa gardens and walk through the subways to the Römer-Thermen.

Ein schöner kurzer Wanderweg, der aber trotzdem viele Highlights zu bieten hat! Ganz besonders schön fanden wir den pfadigen Mittelteil mit den tollen Aussichten ins Rheintal. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Diese kleine Runde haben wir bei gutem Wetter im April 2019 gemacht. Der Ausblick über den Rhein ist überwältigend! Unten angekommen, haben wir noch etwas am Rhein gesessen und die Schiffe vorbeiziehen lassen, ehe es nach Bad Breisig in die Therme ging.
