A wonderful path through an almost untouched landscape - truly a jewel among dream loops. A premium trail, which has been awarded an incredible 92 experience points by the German Hiking Institute. Hikers are repeatedly led through original mixed forests and open meadow landscapes to sensational views. They are also accompanied by the wild and romantic Nahe valley. The Nohener-Nahe loop is currently the only dream loop with a direct railway connection.Translated with (free version)

Another special feature on the way is the Waldgeisterteig: originally it was created by Nohener children, the "forest spirits", and could then be integrated into the dream loop. Today, in addition to various play opportunities in this section of the path, there are also beautiful resting places for all hikers.

The Nohener-Nahe loop to the DVV-Permanent Hiking Trails, starting tickets are available at Café Allerhand and the restaurant Speisekammer in Nohen, as well as at the AGIP petrol station in Birkenfeld.

Author’s recommendation

The wine cabinet with Nahe wine (white and red) with a view of the Nahe river. So have some small change with you, bring cheese cubes and enjoy.

Turn-by-turn directions

If you follow the clockwise direction, you will find the former castle through a stately portal below the "Burefels", an ice-age relic that rises above Nohen at a height of about 25 metres. Here you have a wonderful view over the village. The trail continues along a path, through a passage known as "Hohl". Over three millennia, Bronze Age people, traders, Celts and Romans, armies of the Middle Ages and the modern age, among others, passed through here until the beginning of the 19th century. If you have a smartphone with you and would like to find out more about the history, a QR code on an information board gives you the opportunity to ask for some details. The path leads gradually uphill. After some time you step out onto a dirt track and the view opens up towards Reichenbach and the neighbouring Saarland. It continues along the edge of the forest. Now you can let your gaze wander to the left into the Hunsrück. After a little more than 1.5 km you enter a cosy little forest again. You will quickly reach the "Felsklipp". In addition to a well-filled wine cupboard with Nahe wine, you can enjoy the breathtaking view of Heimbach. Natural recreation and deceleration are guaranteed. It continues downhill to the Nahe river, which you follow to the left. Forest and meadow passages alternate. Along the Nahe the path leads past "forgotten places" and the "Naheinsel>" - a wonderful place to bathe your tired feet in the river. Finally you cross the Nahe and come to a grinding mill. Leaving this behind, one takes a smaller ascent. Once you reach the top, continue straight ahead. You come to a rock passage that leads downhill. Halfway up, you can enjoy the view again. At the bottom, the path meets the Nahe again. Keep left. When you reach the meadow path, turn right. After a while you leave the forest. The trail leads you past the edge of the forest - accompanied by distant views - until you turn right into the Waldgeisterteig. The Waldgeisterteig was built for children by children of the local community of Nohen and offers various adventure, play and fun stations. The trail continues through untouched forests. After some time you keep left. You follow the path, at the end of which you will have another view. Continue to the right and soon you will be rewarded by two panoramic views. Now you cross a meadow and return to the village. If you want, you can extend your tour on the Nohener Naheschleife to the Nahesteig.Translated with (free version)
