NOTE: In order to avoid encounter traffic on the sometimes narrow passages, we ask all hikers to follow the signposts in clockwise direction on the event days (instructions are signposted on site). We ask for your understanding in case there are small delays at the individual venues along the way.

Narrow paths run through the narrow valley of the Nahe River, which the hiker will mostly have in view on this trail. The path runs through the nature reserve "Kammerwoog and Krechelsfels" and passes the remains of the Hoppstadt agate loop (remains of a former agate double loop) and a Roman settlement. In between there are viewpoints with a view to the Nahe and steep, rugged rock faces.Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

The dream loop was designed over a varied route: sometimes on the banks of the Nahe, sometimes in the forest and along steep rock faces. Directly on the banks of the Nahe river one reaches the remains of the "Hoppstätter Achatschleife", also called agate loop in the Burr. Built in 1850 on this spot, the grinding shop consisted of two houses and four grinding stones. The path continues upwards in the forest behind the grinding shop in Serpentinen. There, an information board indicates that the remains of the former "Villa Rustica" have been found: numerous ceramic shards, fragments of a water pipe, slate slabs indicating that the house was covered with slate, iron fittings, iron keys and fragments of amphorae of wine indicate that the Villa Rustica existed between the 1st and 3rd century AD. On forest and meadow soil, the path leads again into the Nahe valley. After passing under the Saarbrücken-Mainz railroad line, there is a magnificent view of the opposite rock face of the "Kammerwoog-Krechelsfels" nature reserve. The dream loop can be reached from the train station via a signposted access route. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

Turn-by-turn directions

The 6.6 kilometre long circular trail "Around the Kama" starts 100 metres from the car park at the Kammerhof Restaurant.Between steep cliffs and the Nahe river we hike along the rock faces. Afterwards we will be in the forest, keeping the Nahe always in sight. Directly on the banks of the Nahe we reach the old Hoppstätter Achatschleife and a little further on the former excavation site of a Roman villa. Information boards provide background information about this double loop and the excavations. After a short climb we are on the way to Enzweiler. Passing the refuge, further past a few houses, we reach the sports field and follow the path to the right. Above the Nahe valley, with a view of the Nahe flowing deep down and Hammerstein, we continue our way. On forest and meadow ground, the path takes us back into the Nahe valley and we walk parallel to the Nahe. After passing under the railway line, we come to a sensory bench with a magnificent view of the opposite rock face of the Kammerwoog-Krechelsfels nature reserve. We cross the Nahe River via the blue cycle path bridge and those who want to enjoy more than just the view of the Krechelsfels have the possibility to make a detour to the Krechelsfels (marked Zuweg).Otherwise, the route almost follows the banks of the Nahe and continues a short distance uphill.A shady forest path takes us to the Nahe weir. At the weir we cross the Nahe again and arrive at the starting point a few minutes later.

Equipment

Hiking boots required!

Our tips for a carefree hiking pleasure.

Hiking is the perfect sport. With the right clothing and the right shoes it is twice as much fun. Functional clothing, poles and breathable backpacks are comfortable when hiking. But good shoes are indispensable. Sturdy jogging or leisure shoes are only suitable for short distances on level paths at best. For longer distances we recommend sturdy hiking boots with non-slip soles. Also think about sun protection and take a drink with you. One liter of water is ideal. For longer distances we recommend a packed lunch, as you will not find a place to stop for lunch everywhere.Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

Hallo, kann man diesen Weg mit Kinderwagen gehen? Oder sind die Pfade zu schmal bzw. steil?

Answer by Dirk Müller · September 13, 2019 · Community
Hallo!

Immer wieder gerne !
