Tourist Information i-Punkt Freinsheim in the Historic Town Hall

From the historic town hall, walk along the main road in a westerly direction and then turn right into Dackenheimer Straße. Follow this road to the roundabout at the end of the village. Take the tunnel and go past the sports field on the left along the farm road ("Kraut und Rüben" cycle path, marked carrot) in the direction of Grünstadt/Dackenheim for just under 2 km straight ahead to the north. At a prominent weeping willow, turn left to the golf course, which you cross between the greens. Before entering the village, turn left onto the unpaved path "Im Rappengarten" (in the direction of the church, the road sign is only at the end of the path) and walk along the outskirts of Dackenheim. You reach Friedhofstraße, then keep to the right and cross the main road (Freinsheimer Straße). Go past the war memorial into Herxheimer Straße and walk out of Dackenheim again. Shortly after the rest area at the Liebesbrunnenhaus, turn left onto the paved path and follow it to the entrance to Herxheim am Berg. At the first house, keep left onto the unpaved path. This meets an asphalt path, which you follow to the right in the direction of the castle garden/cemetery. Here you can take a detour into the castle garden with its old trees and magnificent view of the Rhine plain and St. Jacob's Church. The path itself leads you further along Friedhofstraße, then left through Pfaffenhoftor and Pfaffenhof to Hauptstraße. There you keep to the left. At the end of the village, after the Schumacher winery, turn right and come to the "Himmelreichweg" (blue marking). Go straight on down the slope. After about 600 m, turn right and walk towards the forest. At the German Wine Road, turn left (the path runs parallel to the road for a short distance). You now walk directly south, straight on towards Kallstadt. At the next crossing, turn left. (If you would like to eat in one of the many restaurants in Kallstadt, you can take a detour straight ahead into the village). After about 500 m, turn left onto the concrete path. After about 300 m, the road makes a sharp right turn. Another 100 m later, turn left onto the unpaved road and continue straight ahead until you reach the cycle path signs. Turn right there towards Freinsheim. Pass the meadow with the bench group, up the hill to the viewpoint at Oschelskopf, with a view of Freinsheim. Continue straight on along the cycle path towards Freinsheim (passing the statue of Oschelskopf on the left). At the end of the path, at the large meadow, keep left and continue over the railway crossing, along the Holzweg. Pass the playground and continue straight ahead along Herxheimer Straße until you reach Bahnhofstraße. At the town pharmacy, turn left into Hauptstraße and follow it to the historic town hall on the market square.
