Safety information

Our hiking and cycling trails often run along so-called farm tracks. These are used for agricultural purposes and are used by tractors and harvesters all year round. We would like to point out that the use of these paths is at your own risk and ask cyclists, hikers and winegrowers for mutual consideration in the interest of all. The farm roads may be soiled by agricultural traffic. After rainy days and especially in winter, the paths can be wet and slippery.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the historic town hall, walk along the main road in a westerly direction and then turn right into Dackenheimer Straße. Follow this road until you reach the roundabout at the end of the village. Take the subway, pass the sports field on the left and follow the farm road straight ahead for about 2 km. You pass the sign "Vinum Horreum" and come to the sign "Radweg Dackenheim", which is next to a prominent weeping willow. Turn left and cross the golf course. At the end of the golf course, turn left again and walk along the edge of Dackenheim. After the wall, you will come to Friedhofstraße. Turn right and you will soon reach Freinsheimer Straße. Cross this road and follow Herxheimer Straße straight ahead. After the small rest area at the Liebesbrunnenhaus, turn left onto the paved path and follow it to the entrance to Herxheim am Berg. At the first house, turn left onto the dirt road and continue straight ahead to the next crossroads. On the right hand side - worth a detour - is the castle garden with St. Jakob church. From there you have a great view of the Rhine plain. However, the path continues to the left in the direction of Freinsheim. After crossing the railway tracks, keep to the right and cross the road to Freinsheim at the Herxheim railway stop. Continue along the path next to the tracks. In front of the first houses in Frreinsheim, keep left and enter the town and come to the main road via Holzweg and Herxheimer Straße, which takes you back to the historic town hall on the market square.
