Tourist Information i-Punkt Freinsheim in the Historic Town Hall

The walk starts at the tourist information office at Freinsheim's historic town hall. Walk diagonally opposite into Breite Straße, then turn right into Haintorstraße. Cross the Haintor and immediately turn left into Friedhofstraße. Follow this out of town up the small hill towards the cemetery with its distinctive fortified tower. From there, walk downhill through the vineyards towards Erpolzheim. You pass the rainwater retention basin and continue straight ahead on the dirt road. Before the first houses, turn right and walk north along Erpolzheim. At the railway tracks, turn left towards the station. At the station building, cross the railway tracks and walk westwards on the asphalted farm track (towards the Palatinate Forest). The large erratic blocks (Gemarkungssteine) along the way are ideal for a short rest. The path continues straight ahead to the road between Freinsheim and Ungstein (L455), which you cross (attention: no crossing aid). Continue straight ahead on the first paved then unpaved farm track through the vineyards towards Kallstadt (orientate yourself at the radio mast) and arrive at the car park at the southern end of the village. To cross the road, walk to the entrance to the car park (note: there is no crossing aid). Here you will see the path on the opposite side, which you follow uphill to Villa am Weilberg. There you continue on the path below the excavation site, pass the Roman wine press house and turn right when the path touches the road and immediately turn right again back towards Kallstadt. You now walk along the Riesling path (marked: wine glass) and finally come to the centre of the village to the church and the tourist information office via the Kallstadter pond. Cross the Weinstraße, go into Neugasse and then immediately turn left into Schlittweg.  At the end of the path, turn left and follow the Burgunderweg (marked: Fass) northwards, turn right at the Schlittgraben, leave the Burgunderweg and now follow the signs to Freinsheim. You pass the Oschelskopf statue with a resting place and reach Freinsheim via the railway overpass at Holzweg. Here you go straight on via Herxheimer Straße and Bahnhofstraße into Hauptstraße and are soon at the starting point in the historic old town.
