The trail leads through the famous Herxheim vineyard "Himmelreich". On an almost level route, you can enjoy wonderful views and discover some dreamy corners in the village itself.

Safety information

The path often runs along so-called farm tracks. These are used for agricultural purposes and are used by tractors and harvesters all year round. We would like to point out that the use of the paths is at your own risk and ask cyclists, hikers and winegrowers for mutual consideration in the interest of all. The farm roads may be soiled by agricultural traffic.

After rainy days and especially in winter, the paths can be wet and slippery.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the centre of the village at the "Kerweplatz" along the Weisenheimer Straße to the traffic light crossing to the B 271. Cross this, go left along the Weinstraße for 50 metres and then turn right into the Friedhofstraße. The Pfaffenhof gate is on your left. Walk through the gate and through the "Pfaffenhof", then turn left to St. Jakob's Church. In the adjacent castle garden, you should take the time to enjoy the wonderful view on one of the resting benches under old trees. At the other end of the castle garden, go through the gate into Friedhofstraße and turn right.  After about 200 metres, turn right again and immediately left. Cross the road between Freinsheim and Herxheim and continue on the path below the old fortification wall for about 400 metres downhill south towards Kallstadt. You now turn right and 200 metres further on turn right again. Here you walk for another 200 metres directly towards Herxheim again. All the time you have a good view of the remains of the once stately fortifications of the village. Near the road, turn left and carefully cross the Weinstraße below the entrance to the village (no crossing aid). Walk up over the access road to the car park of the winegrowers' cooperative, turn left and then right again 50 metres after the car park. Turn right at the first junction and you will come to Raiffeisenstraße. Turn right here and immediately left again into "Am Felsenberg". Through "Im Eulengeschrei" you reach Weisenheimer Straße again and the starting point of the tour.

War sehr nett für kleine Runde mit 3 jährigen Kindern, Kinderwagen und Freude am Fernblick auf die Rheinebene und Bergstraße.
