Turn-by-turn directions

The path takes you immediately left from the cemetery for about 500 metres to the north. Then turn right for another 500 metres. The path leads downhill until just before the railway tracks, before which you turn right. Now the hiking trail runs parallel to the tracks in a southerly direction. You cross the road between Freinsheim and Herxheim at the railway stop (starting point of the tour for rail travellers) and continue walking along the tracks for about 300 metres. After a short detour first to the left and then to the right, walk right for about 100 metres and then south again (left) for about 300 metres. Then turn right. Now the path runs for a good half kilometre towards the Weinstrasse with a view of the Palatinate Forest. At a larger crossroads, turn left again and right at the Schlittgraben. Turn right again over the small bridge, the path leads you slightly uphill to the entrance of Herxheim am Berg. Follow the road into the village until you reach Friedhofstraße on the right. Herxheim am Berg railway station, regular connections via Freinsheim from the Rhine-Neckar triangle, from the direction of Neustadt/Weinstraße and Bad Dürkheim as well as from Grünstadt.

Footpath from the railway station approx. 400m slightly uphill to the centre of the village. After the right-hand bend in the road, take a sharp right to the church and through the adjacent castle garden to the cemetery.The train stop is directly on Honigsackweg. Getting there

From the north:

Motorway A6 (Mannheim/Kaiserslautern, exit Grünstadt), direction Bad Dürkheim, on B271 (German Wine Road) to Herxheim am Berg. Before the traffic lights, turn left into Friedhofstraße. Car park at the end of town on the left.

From the south:

Take the A61 motorway at the Ludwigshafen junction onto the A650 towards Bad Dürkheim. Drive to the end of the extension, then towards Grünstadt, Ungstein/Bruch. Pass the industrial area Bruch, turn right at the next traffic lights. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit, then turn right towards Grünstadt/Kallstadt on B271 (German Wine Route). Go through Kallstadt to Herxheim am Berg. In the village, after the traffic lights, turn right into Friedhofstraße. Car park at the end of the village on the left.
