Wine Pilgrimage Trail, Route 1 from Kallstadt
Vineyard walk on asphalted farm tracks and partly unpaved sections with only a few climbs. The tour becomes a pilgrim's hike with the pilgrim's passport, which you can have stamped at the pilgrim stations along the way while sampling a wine.
Author’s recommendation
Magnificent view from the Felsenberg into the Rhine plain and the valley incision of the Felsenberg nature reserve. After the pilgrimage, the varied gastronomy of the wine villages of the Freinsheim holiday region is open to you.

Safety information
The route often runs along so-called farm tracks. These are used for agricultural purposes and are used by tractors and harvesters all year round. We would like to point out that the use of the paths is at your own risk and ask for mutual consideration in the interest of all. The farm tracks may be soiled by agricultural traffic. After rainy days and especially in winter, the paths can be wet and slippery.Tips and hints

Turn-by-turn directions
Start at the I-Punkt Kallstadt via the Riesling hiking trail in a northerly direction to the Felsenberg/Berntal. Here, a few steps lead down into the Berntal valley, which you hike through turning left. You walk below the imposing cliff edge of the Felsenberg and reach the Winzerhof Neu (1st pilgrimage stop) at the northern end of Leistadt. After crossing the road, continue north through the vineyards to Weisenheim am Berg. In the town, immediately turn right into Südtiroler Ring and at the end of the road turn left towards the centre of Leistadter Straße. The 2nd pilgrimage stop, the Weinhaus am Sonnenberg, is on the right-hand side of the road. After the rehearsal, walk back towards the end of the village.
You change sides of the road at the crossing aid and keep to the right in the car park. At the end of the car park, turn left onto the farm track and follow it for about 300 metres. Then take a sharp left, after another 50 metres take a sharp right and continue straight ahead to the next crossroads. Here you turn left and walk past the Vinothek am Felsenberg (not a pilgrimage station, but also worth a visit) on the right and after about 200m turn sharp left again. The whole time you have a wonderful view of the Rhine plain.
The farm track now leads you to the Herxheim am Berg winegrowers' cooperative, the 3rd pilgrimage station. From here you can make a detour to the Herxheim castle garden next to the St. Jakob church - the balcony of the Freinsheim holiday region with seating under old trees and a great view of the Rhine plain. The last stage now takes you back to Kallstadt. Below the winegrowers' cooperative, cross the road and go left down into the vineyards about 75m after leaving the village. After another 100m, turn right and then immediately right again towards Weinstraße. At the roadside, turn left towards Kallstadt. You will meet the markings of the Burgunderweg (wine barrel) and follow this straight ahead to the south. At the entrance to the village, take a sharp right, after the cemetery turn left and then right along Friedhofstraße to Weinstraße. The 4th and last pilgrimage stop, the Kallstadt winegrowers' cooperative, is immediately on the left on the Dt. Weinstraße.
