Safety information
Our hiking and cycling trails often run along so-called farm tracks. These are used for agricultural purposes and are used by tractors and harvesters all year round. We would like to point out that the use of these paths is at your own risk and ask cyclists, hikers and winegrowers for mutual consideration in the interest of all. The farm roads may be soiled by agricultural traffic. After rainy days and especially in winter, the paths can be wet and slippery.Tips and hints

Turn-by-turn directions
From the historic town hall in Freinsheim, head south via the market square through the "Eisentor" town gate to Weisenheimer Straße. Follow this to the end, past the Nettomarkt and along the cycle path for a short distance until you reach the road. Cross the road (attention: no crossing aid) and walk straight ahead for approx. 250 m on an unpaved path. Turn right, reach the road again and walk parallel to it for a few metres and then keep left again in a northerly direction, past the rainwater retention basin to the next crossroads. Now turn right towards Weisenheim am Sand. Pass the tennis courts, turn right into "Im Diehl" and continue to Ritter-von-Geißler-Straße. Follow this in an easterly direction until you reach Vinothek Schick (1st pilgrimage stop).
Continue in the direction of the town centre. At the fountain at the Obertor (roundabout), turn right and walk along Bahnhofstraße to the Langenwalter winery (2nd pilgrimage stop). Continue along Bahnhofstraße, past the railway station and turn right into the "Ziegelhütte" shortly before leaving the village. At the end of the development, keep slightly to the right, walk past the equestrian farm and come to Sandhasenweg 3, which you follow to the right in a southerly direction.
At the end of the path, keep to the right and now follow the Kraut und Rüben cycle path to Erpolzheim. Turn left into von-Maurer-Straße. At the end of the road, cross the main road and follow it straight ahead on the right-hand side of the pavement to the end of the bridge. At the wooden sign, turn right onto the path along the "Isenach" stream. Follow the stream until you reach the sign "Im Kitzig". Turn right again here until you reach the Kohl winery in Georg-Amend-Straße (3rd pilgrimage stop).
Back in the direction of Freinsheim, you then walk a short distance to the left along Bahnhofstraße and then turn right into Burgunderstraße. You continue over the Schlittgraben through the vineyards in a north-westerly direction towards Freinsheim. You pass the cemetery and enter the town via Friedhofstraße. At the junction "In den Bohngärten" turn right and after the playground turn left into Burgstraße. Follow this until you reach the Kirchner winery (4th pilgrimage stop).
