Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher (1742 - 1819) war schon zu Lebzeiten und ist immer noch der berühmteste und bekannteste deutsche Militär. Ohne sein Wirken wäre die Geschichte Europas heute eine andere und wir wären nicht, was wir heute sind....
Wenig bekannt ist, dass Blücher in Kirrweiler zum General wurde. Wie es dazu gekommen ist und noch einiges mehr über das Leben und Wirken des Generals, erfahren Sie auf dem historischen Rundweg durch Ort und Gemarkung Kirrweiler.
Der 5 km lange Rundweg führt Richtung Edenkoben durch die umliegenden Wenberge und später wieder über den Dorfkern zurück an den Ausgangspunkt. Auf insgesamt 10 Stationen werden der Aufstieg Blüchers und das siegreiche Gefecht der preußischen Truppen über die feindlichen Franzosen am 28. Mai 1794 beschrieben.
Interessante historische Informationen über den Wein- und Ferienort Kirrweiler, der zwischen 1280 und 1793 den Fürstbischöfen zu Speyer als Sommerresidenz diente, ergänzen die Beschreibungen.

Historischen Spuren folgend, führt die Route vom Start am Edelhof (Schautafel: Kirrweiler und seine Geschichte) westwärts Richtung Edenkoben durch die Weinberge zur Schautafel "Das Gefecht von Kirrweiler". Auf der anderen Seite der Autobahn erfahren Sie mehr über den jungen Blücher (Schautafel 3)*. Nach links geht es dann zur vierten Schautafel "Blücher in der Pfalz". Über die Schautafeln "Blücher wird zum Helden der Befreiungskriege" und "Der Sieger von Waterloo" gelangen Sie zum Oberschloss - das untergegangene Altenkirrweiler. Danach geht es wieder über eine Autobahnbrücke zurück in das Dorf zum historischen Schauplatz des Blitzangriffs (Dreifaltigkeitskapellchen). Von da gelangen Sie über das Maikammerer Tor in den ehemaligen Schlossbezirk.
Unterwegs erzählen bebilderte Schautafeln vom Leben und Wirken des Fürsten Blücher zu Wahlstatt, über das Gefecht von Kirrweiler, sowie auch über die besondere historische Bedeutung des heutigen Pfälzer Wein- und Ferienortes.
* Möchten Sie die Tour etwas abkürzen, können Sie an der Schautafel 3 rechts statt links abbiegen. So gelangen Sie direkt zur Schautafel 6 ("Der Sieger von Waterloo") und kurz danach zum Oberschloss Altenkirrweiler.
