The lynx trail leads through the area where lynx "Gaupa" settled in 2019. Gaupa was the first lynx since the beginning of the reintroduction to permanently establish its territory in the Dahner Felsenland and raise offspring here. The Seibertsbachtal and the Moosbachtal were frequently used areas, which Gaupa also roamed together with her cub in 2019.

UFFBASSE! - Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature

Always act with foresight, kindness and consideration towards everyone you meet along the way.

Respect nature, don't destroy plants and always stay on the paths.

Remember to bring a rubbish bag for the trail and take rubbish home with you.

Please keep your dog on a lead at all times. Other visitors and animals will thank you.

For your own safety, observe all trail closures. Also at weekends.

Park only in designated parking areas. Leave space for escape routes and agricultural machinery.

Please give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic.

If you would like to solve riddles and tasks on the subject of lynx, you can also go on the lynx geocach tour around Altdahn Castle - otherwise people might get a bit confused if there is only the geocach pdf?

Safety information

Especially in autumn, it is also important to be aware that leaves lying on the ground can hide bumps, roots, stones or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or rainstorms, trees can still fall or branches can fall down afterwards. Especially in adverse weather conditions, muddy and slippery passages can occur on natural paths. Not all rocks or precipices are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in places. You have to expect this type of path impairment when you undertake a hike. If you are of the opinion that certain sections of the trail are not passable for you, you should avoid them. Despite the "untraceable" markings of the premium hiking trails, we recommend that you always have an appropriate hiking map with you for safety reasons, so that you can quickly find your way to a safe area in the event of a thunderstorm or emergency, for example.

NOTE:
We endeavour to announce all closures caused by forestry work, hunting parties on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you encounter closures or diversions on site, please follow the instructions for your own safety.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the car park to the PWV hut and on to the "Seibertsbachtal". Here, turn right through the valley and later uphill on the path to the crossroads on the north side of the "Edersberg". The path now leads downhill into the romantic "Langental" and to the mighty "Froschfelsen". In the valley, the trail continues to the "Moosbachtal Nature Reserve". Past several ponds, the "Moosbachtal Hiking Park" and the "Elwetritsch Rock", the trail returns to the starting point of the tour, the car park at the PWV hut.

Lynx habitat: The cross-border biosphere reserve Pfälzerwald - Northern Vosges offers excellent living conditions for the lynx. There is enough space for the large territories the lynx needs to hunt and sufficient game. It finds rocks and diversely structured, low-disturbance forest areas that provide retreat opportunities for it and its young. With about 3,000 km² of suitable habitat, the biosphere area provides space for about 45 independent lynx. The lynx trail leads through the area where lynx "Gaupa" settled in 2019. Gaupa was the first lynx since the beginning of the reintroduction to permanently establish its range in the Dahner Felsenland and raise offspring here. The Seibertsbachtal and the Moosbachtal were frequently used areas, which Gaupa also roamed together with her cub in 2019.
