You can expand your knowledge of wine on paved paths with a slight incline. On the way there are a multitude of beautiful benches and viewpoints that invite you to linger.
An absolute highlight right at the beginning of the tour is the Alsterweiler Chapel with the Maikammerer altar in the interior - an example of late Gothic panel painting, probably completed around 1445. In addition, a wonderful view of Maikammer and the Rhine plain on Berggasse with seating and the opportunity to stop for a cozy snack.
The tour begins at the Alsterweiler chapel. There is a historic wine-growing facility with medieval cultivation methods and old ways of raising the vines. To the left of the chapel, the educational wine trail leads along the Kapellenweg along the Pfälzer Weinsteig path and the green and white marking to the west. The main grape varieties planted in the surrounding vineyards are described there on information boards. After approx. 500 m the grape variety path goes to the right at a small stream bridge, past the newly built Alsterbrunnen and after a short incline to the north and crossing the L515 there is a seating group and an old wine press on the route. Here on Berggasse, along the German Wine Route hiking trail, there is a beautiful view over the vineyards to Maikammer and the Upper Rhine Graben. With a view of Hambach Castle, go straight ahead for approx. 500 m to the next fork in the road. There you turn right at the wayside shrine, an image of a saint on a sandstone pillar, and walk straight ahead with a slight right bend to the ravine. Past the Kredenburg playground, along Kredenburgstrasse and Friedhofstrasse, the tour closes at the starting point of the Alsterweiler Chapel.
