The Red Wine Trail is considered one of the most beautiful themed hiking trails in Germany.

And rightly so! On the way on one of the royal stages, the Ahr valley presents itself from its sunny side.

Author’s recommendation

Definitely plan a visit to the quaint wine taverns and wineries in the wine villages along the way.

The Red Wine Trail - On the Sunny Side of the Ahr Valley

The Red Wine Trail leads through the middle of the vineyard terraces of the Ahr Valley.

On the way, one of the royal stages offers sensational views of the valley, the course of the river Ahr and the surrounding villages.

Rocks and castles, water and wine have shaped the region along the Middle Ahr.

All the wine villages are directly connected to the trail. There, cosy wine taverns, rustic roadside inns, famous cooperatives and a wide variety of gastronomy await hikers.

The Ahrtalweg (A) leads along shady paths, through partly untouched nature, directly along the Ahr. The Ahrtalweg is recommended as a return route and thus offers the possibility of a multi-faceted circular hike.
