Rhine-Nahe Wine Trail - Stage 4: Niederhausen - Bad Kreuznach
Sweaty ascent to the Rotenfels as the highest steep face between the Alps and Scandinavia. Rest and breathe deeply along the graduation works in the Salinen Valley.
Those who did not have the time to take a look at the water surface of the dammed Nahe the day before should do so today. Now it goes leisurely up and down through fields and vineyards until a steep climb leads up to the mighty rhyolite rocks of the Rotenfels. The magnificent view lets the hiker's heart beat faster. From the Bastei viewpoint, the trail runs along the edge of the mountain rock. A steep descent with many serpentines takes you to Bad Münster am Stein-Ebernburg, which stretches along both banks of the Nahe. In the spa gardens of Bad Münster you can find peace and relaxation. The district of Ebernburg with its castle of the same name, narrow alleys and quaint wine taverns has everything you need for your physical well-being. Batteries recharged, it is worth making a detour to the “Living Nahe Nature Station” before heading through the Salinen Valley to the stage destination of Bad Kreuznach.
Author’s recommendation
In Bad Münster, take the hand cable ferry across the Nahe, climb up to the Rheingrafenstein and enjoy the panorama from there.
