Discover the traces of the Romans on the approx. 8 km long circular trail - perfect combination with a visit to the RömerWelt.

Distance 8.4 km
Walking is one of the most popular leisure activities and visitors to the RömerWelt from near and far also like to take the opportunity to combine their visit to the museum with a circular walk on the RömerWeltWeg and explore the Limes.
The trail is 8.4 km long and starts at the RömerWelt car park. On the way, you will reach interesting sites with reconstructions, but also original finds relating to the Limes. You will find palisade replicas, ramparts and ditches, an excavation site of the Limes Romanus and a forest school which is ideal for a rest. (Self-catering only).
The highlight, which is only a stone's throw away from the circular trail, is the walk-in wooden tower replica of watchtower 1/9 with a magnificent view of the surrounding landscape all the way into the Eifel. This is also documented by the excellent rating on the hiking portal "wanderkompass.de".
So discover the region and the traces of the Romans... Climb the watchtower just like the Roman soldiers did long ago. But with one difference: you have leisure and time to enjoy the magnificent view. Now that you have hiked a - very small - part of the Limes, treat yourself to a break: either with a refreshing drink, ice cream or delicious coffee and the Limes cake in the RömerWelt. Or stop off at one of the nearby restaurants in the village.

Turn-by-turn directions
The tour starts at the RömerWelt adventure museum and follows the marked Westerwaldsteig or Limes hiking trail to a forest school. In a sunken path, the beginning of which is marked with palisades, the trail goes steeply uphill for 1.5 km.
At the Dielsberg estate, we soon reach the forest school. Here are the remains of the Limes guard post 1/8. After 500 m uphill, we enjoy the wonderful view of the Rhine valley and the Eifel from the accessible Roman tower 1/9.
Back along the path, we turn left at the forest school in a southerly direction into the valley of the "Nassenbach", and then after about 200 m on the district road 1 in the area of the refuge - running in a westerly direction - we reach Hartmannshof as the highest point of the hike.
After about 1 km, passing Haus Forst, we reach the Peace Cross, which was erected in 1987 in gratitude for peace in our homeland. A group of benches with views of the Rhine valley and the Eifel invites you to linger. Continuing steadily downhill, we pass the Lampenthalerhof farm.
After a short section on the K 1, the path leads northwest along the "Nassenbach" with the fish ponds and later via Arienheller, then following the "Bahlsbach", back to the starting point at the RömerWelt.
